Why You Should Write a Book in 2025 (Even If You Think the Market is Too Crowded)

Have you ever considered that the one thing standing between you and your dream opportunities might be a book you haven’t written yet? In 2025, it’s easy to feel like there are already too many books out there. But here’s the truth: there’s still room for your story, your voice, and your unique perspective.

Here is the reason why you should write a book in 2025, even with the billions that are out there already.

1. Books Are Timeless

If you were born in the early 2000s, you remember a world before the internet dominated everything. You probably remember DVD players, Redbox, and other media that eventually became obsolete. I still look back and feel a little sad because those memories felt like an amazing fever dream.

Unlike the media that died, Books last.

Look at the Bible. It’s one of the longest-standing texts in human history, still being translated and shared across the globe. Books are a forever investment, not just into your future, but into the lives of those who will read them long after you’re gone.

When you write a book, you create something with staying power. Social media posts, YouTube videos, and tweets are fleeting. But a book lives on.

2. Books Let You Go Deep

Social media is great for short, snappy content, but if you want to explore a topic in depth, nothing compares to writing a book. Whether it's fiction or nonfiction, books give you the space to dive deep into stories, characters, ideas, and intricate worlds.

According to Google, the average nonfiction book is between 50,000 and 70,000 words and the average fiction book is 70,000 to 100,000 words. That means that you have all of this space and this time to create and let your ideas free.

When I wrote my book Since When Did Single Mean Sad, I was able to explore my season of singleness in a way that no Instagram caption or YouTube video could ever fully capture. And honestly, even that book only scratched the surface! I’m already working on another book that will go even deeper, so stay tuned.

3. Books Can Launch Ministries and Movements

If you’ve ever dreamed of starting a ministry, a nonprofit, or a life-giving community, a book can be your gateway.

Think about authors like Joyce Meyer and Lysa TerKeurst. Their books became tools that God used to reach people around the world. Their ministries didn’t start overnight, they started with a book.

If God has placed a calling on your life to encourage, teach, or inspire others, writing a book might be the first step toward fulfilling that purpose.

The biggest difference between writing a book from a christian perspective and writing a book from a worldly perspective is how involved God is. The beautiful thing about God is that he will not force himself onto us. He will let us go on and write about our life without including him. When I was a child, I tried to write books but none of them ever went anywhere.

It was not until 2022, when I finally involved God in my writing process that I was able to finish a manuscript and publish it. I wish I could have gone back and whispered this to my younger self because she had no idea.

4. Self-Publishing Has Never Been Easier

When I self-published my book in 2022, self-publishing was still fighting a stigma. People used to think self-published books were low quality or that the authors couldn’t get a traditional deal. But the publishing world has changed big time.

In 2025, there are countless free resources, YouTube tutorials, and step-by-step guides to walk you through the process.

I’ll actually be releasing a video soon about exactly how I self-published my book, so make sure you subscribe if you want to see that!

The process can feel overwhelming, but I want to create a space where aspiring authors can get support, ask questions, and learn together.

5. Your Story Has Power

There are billions of people on this planet, but no one else is living your exact life. No one else has your unique combination of experiences, lessons, and perspectives.

Even if someone else writes about the same topic, your story will offer something completely different.

Your voice matters.

Your story will resonate with people in ways you may not even expect. Two people can write about singleness and create completely different, equally valuable books.

6. Writing a Book Will Grow Your Confidence

Writing Since When Did Single Mean Sad forced me to revisit painful memories and reflect on difficult seasons. It was humbling, vulnerable, and healing all at once.

But sharing those stories in a book (rather than a quick social post) created a safe, intentional space. Readers who pick up your book are choosing to engage deeply with your story. That makes the process more meaningful for both you and them.

Writing a book can build your confidence, push you to face hard truths, and lead you toward personal healing.

So, if you’ve been thinking about writing a book, let this be your sign: 2025 is the perfect time to start.

Don’t let fear, self-doubt, or the thought that the market is too crowded hold you back. Your story is needed.
